October 19th and 20th,
held the job fair for 2014 maritime graduates. 11 COSCO branch companies and 52 non COSCO shipping companies came to QMC for seafarer recruitment.
The 2014 graduates are faced with a severe employment situation. On the one hand, the demand of the maritime graduates is taking a declining trend and many shipping companies have reduced their recruitment. COSCO Manning took almost half of the graduates. On the other, the amount of graduates is exceptional seen from the whole country, especially the university graduates and many companies have recruited them. Thirdly, there is a bigger demand from the private shipping companies, bringing forth a strike on the employment ideology of the graduates.
In 2013, there are 946 maritime graduates. On the previous efforts in employment, QMC has collected a demand of 1400 positions, with a ration of 1:1.5. The two job fairs witnessed a signing of 900 pieces of employment agreements and 387 graduates were taken by COSCO. COSCO propaganda to the campus has created a favored atmosphere and most of the excellent graduates went to COSCO branch companies. Except for some choices otherwise, most of the graduates have been successfully employed, with a rate of 98%.
